I'm so SO sorry to do this but it's stuck in my head and this is the only way to get it out. Please know I hate myself for doing this more than you ever could hate me for it: COVFIFA

If you read the WaPo article about grift in the veteran disability claims process, please know they did a poor job telling the story. Behind every claim is a real veteran dealing with long term consequences of their service. The system is an opaque behemoth. Vets need real help navigating it.

There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

My grandfather was one of the first researchers to synthesize NMR theory and now you can 3D print resin to analyze loads of things at the same time. He would be amazed. I sure am.

The history lesson we all need today: “The First Continental Congress, which met in 1774, refused to establish a standing army, afraid that a bad government could use an army against its people.“

Thank you for everything, school librarians & library workers!

At a loss for words thinking of how you somehow find a way to continue doing your unnecessarily stressful jobs. I have to think your library kids are a big part of why.

Whatever the reason… thank you. We love you, we support you 💛

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

For the moment, I’m going to keep reading the Post — the news pages, anyway, for the same reason I read the WSJ news pages. I will not blame anyone if they choose not to.

In the meantime I will point out that NPR/PBS and your local stations only answer ultimately to the public. Support them.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.
