A close-up of a Tufted Titmouse with his/her tuft blowing in the wind. I love their black eyelashes. The thin black feathers around the break are rictal bristles, which are common in many birds but their size and placement differs between species.

Another favorite song that I'm finding peaceful in the midst of all that's happening:
R.E.M.'s 'Nightswimming', from 1992 album "Automatic For the People"

The string portion was arranged by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame, Stipes on vocals, Mills on piano & Deborah Workman on oboe.

Great Crested Grebe weed-dance! 😍
I've never had any luck photographing this special courtship, and this pair of Grebes were a long way away when they decided to share their mutual love, but I like the golden setting. 😀
Taken last weekend at RSPB Ham Wall in Somerset. 😊🐦♥️

This is an important film.
Featuring interviews with field teams battling extinction on Maui and Kaua'i, the film captures the plight of the honeycreepers and the importance of native forest birds both to the ecosystem and the local communities.

Found the whorled and gnarled hovel of this sweet Hermit Thrush, the patron #bird of us introverts. Offered me a brief 'hallo!' then retired to the deeper, darker underbrush—presumably to recover from all that taxing social interaction

This is one of those photos that you can't quite believe really happened. I encountered this grey gray owl (1 of 2) on my way home from town. It was so focussed on hunting, that I could stand to the side and watch. I didn't have my camera set to continuous shutter, so I'm stunned this came out. 🪶🌿

I feel like this was the greatest celebrity post of all time because you initially want to make fun of it because we’re all irony poisoned jerks but the sheer scale of human compassion overwhelms it and you end up going yes Vincent I also want to help a pig see the stars for the first time
