Good for them for taking action. I hope they can leverage peak travel season to end the wage theft. ✊
Breaking News: Air Canada has started canceling flights ahead of a potential strike by its flight attendants on Saturday that could ground 130,000 passengers a day. The flight attendants are seeking improved wages and compensation for work they do before flights take off and after they land.

workers have the right to collectively bargain, unions are generally effective at protecting member's interests, those interests are more likely to overlap with those of the public at large than those of management, but are not guaranteed to do so. there, that's all the discourse there is to be had.

My son spent the first 13 days of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit of an Austrian hospital.

Never once did I have to think about how much it was going to cost and how long it might take me to pay it off.

When it finally came, the bill was €230.
No one who gets sick or injured should have to think "How much will this cost me?" before seeking care. Citizen or not.

When I broke my foot in New Zealand, I paid $0 for doctors, X-rays, boot, etc.

If other countries can do this, we can and should, too.

I got an ambulance ride, CT scan and ER care in Brazil. My bill: $0.
As Washington battles over access to health care, a Post journalist’s experience at a public hospital in Brazil shone light on a fundamentally different system.

🌈 Nearly 1 in 5 LGBTIQ workers in Europe face discrimination at work. For trans & intersex workers, it’s 1 in 3. Ahead of #IDAHOBIT, Europe’s unions say: enough. Every worker deserves dignity, safety & equality.

@nytopinion.nytimes.com, looking forward to Part II: Interviews with voters who didn’t vote for far-right parties.
Huge majorities of Dutch and Austrian voters don’t lie awake worried about other people’s gender or immigrants on welfare and don’t want to feed their democracies to the wolves.
