Vultures might not be as beloved as bunnies, but they're key to human health. By eating carrion and culling the populations of smaller scavengers, they help limit the spread of zoonotic diseases.

A new Stanford study found that 36% of the world's scavenger species are in decline.

A new Stanford study estimates that #climatechange has reduced global yields of wheat, barley, and maize by 4–13% over the past 50 years. Increases in hotter, drier weather have outpaced climate models, which could prevent effective adaptation strategies.

Something that's been clear to me for some time is that a lot of progressive advocacy and politics has overindexed on finding just the right combination of words to say while ignoring the fact that no media ecosystem exists where people might actually hear you say them. New from @mmfa.bsky.social

once again I have to invoke the specter of Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is in Hell now. under Reagan, the term "government spending" was effectively demonized. fuck you, Reaganite ghouls! spending money, on its people and their needs, is the function of government! public works are good! say so!

One academic theory I think helps explain these democratic socialist to MAGA swings that AOC is documenting is Hirschman's "Exit, Voice and Loyalty."

I think these voters think the solution is exit and they see both Bernie and Trump representing that anti-establishment energy.

Dispiriting but true: it’s very unlikely that a different liberal policy regime would’ve saved Dems this cycle, but a different information environment very well could have. www.offmessage.net/p/democrats-...

This is is the other part of the story, which is that the information environment is absolutely as bad as I’ve ever seen it.

Trump has always been a sixth grade presidency candidate. Pizza every day forever and no more homework. The challenge is, as always, that that’s not how this works.
