Purity tests are a thing on the left for sure, but more and more, it doesn't feel worth the effort to me to invest in electoral politics. We need to create a world that isn't possible within the mechanisms we have. The left needs to invest in mutual aid and community organizing. Not elections.
Now that Carney has been selected I hope progressives can keep their eyes on the real goal: winning.
Every elxn we see the same cycle of people who share progressive values tearing each other apart in a moral-purity hunger games rather than focusing on the threat in front of us.

Re journalism: I think we need to think outside of capitalism. I think news media is at its most emancipatory when it is independent, but also involves creative collaboration.

If the goal of news media was to serve collective liberation, what would it look like? This feels like an important question. (I'm not sure I have ever asked it of myself before?)

I think we need to admit that conventional journalism needs to die. We need to imagine new ways of thinking about discourse in the public square.
