"You cannot buy the revolution. You cannot make the revolution. You can only be the revolution. It is in your spirit, or it is nowhere." -<Ursula Le Guin>-
"Hope and change" lol. Love it. Good luck! ✊️

"Old liberals cannot save us—they don't know how to speak. Young people need to speak this truth and thereby create a world for themselves and for others—a world for all of us. Together."

I talked about this with a girlfriend recently with teenaged sons, and she literally said: "over my dead body." Women will not let this happen. I promise.

I've been thinking about how inevitable violence feels in this moment. And you know what occurred to me? This is the first major world conflict where women feel like a major factor in politics. Not the case even a generation ago. I think it's a game changer?

Good. As it should be.

I love that!

Ugh I'm sorry. I think people do that because lockdowns really messed people up. And people can't hold two things to be true at the same time. (We have all been traumatized in ways we don't understand... )

How can you not be?

Because conservatives only know how to do negative messaging. And their favourite scapegoat is gone. They had nothing apart from F Trudeau?.

I think it's why monotheism can very easily slip into a justification of authoritarianism.

Patriarchy does the same thing with women. It's why reproductive rights are essential. Birthing bodies/labour (see the connection?) must be offered from a place of consent, not coercion. Same thing with sex/love obvs. Financial coercion means consent cannot be freely offered.
March 28, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Lol nice tee up... it 100% does. Worker exploitation is labour extracted without consent. Workers need to reclaim their sovereignty and offer their their labour/bodies only when they have consented to humane conditions. Capitalism offers the illusion of consent but it's not real. It's coerced.
March 28, 2025 at 6:12 PM
That's my exact point. It's abuse. Domination. This is why sovereignty is an essential part of love. Without it, it is only coercion and forced subordination.
March 28, 2025 at 6:06 PM
I like this because I have been thinking about empowerment this way. Sovereignty is essential. The ability to consent; to say no. Jesus is the transgressed boundary; the loving "yes" that must be offered freely and without coercion. Love only exists in the interplay between dominance and submission
March 28, 2025 at 5:58 PM
I think this is also where the Trinity is helpful? God the Father is the sovereign power who is good because he is great. *but* Jesus "did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made himself nothing." And the Spirit is the movement between sovereignty and submission.

That's adorable actually. You're famous!

The volunteers that came by to bring me cookies and apple juice is still a fond memory I have from my chemo suite days. I think AI is gonna teach us what it means to be human. And in actually hopeful about that.

I like life drawing for this. Find a flow state. Become one with the thing you are drawing/painting. Fall in love with it. Devote yourself to unlocking it's essence. It's lovely.

Slowness is resistance. I feel that more and more. Allowing oneself to step away from manic productivity takes real unlearning. But we need to do it.
