Independent bookstores have been getting my money this month. A first visit to Powell's, Portland, OR last Sunday. Today's fun was at Invitation Bookshop, Gig Harbor.

NEW from me — FEMA staffers say the response to the Texas floods is horrifyingly slow, and it may be because of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's recent increased control over how the agency spends money.

"If this is how they are going to do a major hurricane response, people are fucked.”

📚💙♥️Just finished John Scalzi's "When the Moon Hits Your eye". 🧀🌕 Perfect timing. One of the few authors that can convince and entertain with silly ideas that make for a delightful read. Takeaways, life happens and not always predictably or logically. It had a bit of everything.

While ILMS funding supports many programs, poor rural communities will likely feel these cuts first and most deeply. Rural libraries, which serve as lifelines to communities w/o reliable access to broadband, rely heavily on this funding for survival. This is criminal.

If you get a poorly written text message claiming you have an unpaid bridge toll, DON'T click on the link. It's a scam.
