This is the roughly the ratio of the foreign-born population which existed for half a century from the late 19th to the early 20th century.

/note that this chart is from 2019, the percent of the population which is foreign-born is now somewhat above 15%, which is a new high.

The great dividers want you to think the problems in society are caused by migrants and refugees.

They’re wrong.

The problems in society are caused by an unjust economic system that protects the interests of the super-rich.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

"Nobody voted for this" is nice, forgiving message towards the terminally stupid, but at core ordinary people aren't required to believe in it and they might as well believe another equally true fact: we are all responsible for our votes.
Tbh, this is why I can't really bring myself to agree with "nobody voted for this." In Dungeons and Dragons terms, you had the choice to take ten and get a guaranteed okay enough result or take a risk and roll the dice knowing a 1 is possible. Guys like him chose the dice and rolled at disadvantage.

i'm not sure why exactly, but this photo has been popping up again a lot lately. perhaps it's trump's inauguration sparking a renewed conversation about his 'very fine people' comment about these nazis. coincidentally, today marks 2 years since the man in the center of this photo ended his life.

We deserve better than this divisive and out of touch rhetoric from Congressional leadership.
