Lots of soup recipes online but basically sauté smashed garlic and rosemary sprig in good olive oil, add pack of chestnuts (roughly chopped), a tin of chickpeas and water to cover. Cook for 10 mins or so, fish out rosemary, blend and season to taste.

Buy the ready-cooked vacuum packed ones, they’re a pain to roast and peel. (You can also make a really quick and easy soup with chestnuts and chickpeas.)

I like them par-boiled then fried off in butter with chestnuts.

Yuck. Although I do have a nice recipe for braised sprouts and carrots where you cook them for a really long time. The danger zone is between 9 & 20 mins when a compound has been released and before it cooks off. (See also braised cabbage.)

My mother in law seems to go for 15-20mins, hence my husband’s aversion before I introduced him to properly cooked ones!

Try slicing finely and frying, or if life’s too short roasting them. Also good raw in coleslaw. Anything but boiling for 20mins!

I thought it looked like the Canadian one, but perusing @revdaniel.bsky.social’s feed, I see they have four petals.

If I'm reading something, it's either because it's interesting, in which case summarising it would defeat the point, or because it's important, in which case I need to know what it actually says, not what a lying machine pretends it might say.

Didn’t do 9 as too loud for me, but everything else is/was perfectly normal.

Me too. Although, I don’t know that I ‘rocked’ it, what ever that means.

Oh yes. When Bp of Monmouth he came to our student church (also a parish church) and preached a perfectly pitched sermon for the audience. And then came and ate lunch with us in the Chaplaincy, with his plate balanced on his knees, sitting on a sofa, like everyone else.

Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time. I‘m not doing too badly really (trying to focus on what I can do) but yes, mental work can be as tiring as physical things.

I regret to inform you that I have done the things today. Probably spent too long on the computer. Fingers crossed for work tomorrow…

Yes, I think so. Not sure how scale compares to other US cities, though. (I’m in the UK and a follower of progressive Christians and politics people who looks at US news in horror.)
