Excited to receive my Christmas cards from @loreandordure.com. I didn’t get round to sending cards last year (long-Covid fatigue, too much to do) but this year I have an incentive!

#TinyJoys New plant! We first saw this amazing plant at the Botanic Garden of Wales in the summer. Yesterday, we bought one from the garden centre at RHS Wisley. Love the leaves that look like they’ve been painted with a smaller leaf design.

I have just taken delivery of the most unusually shaped and efficiently packed parcel I have ever seen! (It’s a two-part tree ring to demarcate a small bed around a new pear tree.)

Fellow trans allies, please get one of these badges if you haven’t got one already. I’ve had two young people say, ‘I like your badge’ (one pupil at my son’s school and a shop assistant just now), which makes it feel really worthwhile. Let’s show folks that lots of cis people support trans people.

St Peter and St Paul today, so this morning we sang the hymn I wrote a few years ago. Here’s our lockdown recording.

Just as I give up translating, I have discovered that the book I translated several chapters of a few years ago (and which didn't have a publisher last I heard) was published last year by Routledge. And not only am I credited (inside, not on the cover), I am thanked! #TinyJoys

It’s a sad day when the obituary page covers two people with whom you have had interesting conversations. RIP Geoffrey and Clive.

At morning prayer (at home), I like to use the WCC’s prayer cycle. This week we are praying for Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. As well as intentions and prayers there is usually a song. I was struck by the simplicity & future tense in this French text to Ps 100. I like praying in French.

No hippopotamuses, but our local garden centre, surprisingly, does have a rhinoceros!

I’ve ordered badges this year (and pencils for my choir). I couldn’t really justify another top as I got this last year!

#TinyJoys making homemade mincemeat (pudding tomorrow, probably). I find commercial mincemeat and puddings too sweet so usually make my own added sugar free one using my own recipe refined from my grandma’s.

Thank you again to @markdruss.bsky.social for the copy of this, which I won on here. It got muddled up with my birthday presents so I have only opened it today. A lovely extra present that I am looking forward to reading!
