@thebulletin.org I'm not great on this forum of social media, but I did find the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientist.

well, Tik tok is gone. it's sad. I hope those using it as income find another way. I've jumped onto rednote, and I am quite excited. The people have been wonderful and so welcoming, and the content is AMAZING. so much artistry, food, and the look at the Chinese way of life has been incredible.

It's not "post-truth." It's lies.
It's not "post-constitutional." It's criminal conspiracy.
It's not "post-factual." It's propaganda.
It's not "post-reality." It's misinformation.

There is a difference between truth and falsity. These words are meant to obscure that difference.
really wish people would stop using "post-constitutionalist" to describe russell vought. the word is criminal. he's planning crimes. he's taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy.

New: Meta has deleted trans and nonbinary Messenger themes, as well as the blog posts announcing them. Happens the same week that it has changed its rules to allow users to say LGBTQ+ people are "mentally ill"

so now that Meta isn't fact checking, allows women to be compared to household objects and called property, allows transgender people to be referred to as 'it', I think I might be done over there for everything but meme harvesting.

A friend of mine passed away last Friday. She was kind, wise, patient, funny AF, a talented musician, and so extremely multifaceted. She will be missed by so many. I'm so grateful I got to call her friend. Grateful and blessed.

While my "spectator value" is probably somewhat niche, I am definitely enjoying the fact that I don't have to talk around an endless number of scrolling shooter game ads.
Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.

They'll act like they want to be your friend. They aren't. They want control and more power. That's the game.

Don't identify with their "struggles" and don't bond with them para-socially over shared interests.

But also, don't stay indifferent. Even if "the rules" don't affect you now, they will.
