please retire the phrase "i wish i had time to be depressed"
1) nobody has time to be depressed
2) depression doesn't care if you're busy
3) willing yourself to force through symptoms bc you have stuff to do is only effective for mild-medium depression, not severe

As someone constantly battling Major Depressive Disorder AND Generalized Anxiety Disorder - YES. RETIRE THIS PHRASE.

this is also why bo burnham’s inside resonated with a lot of ppl ! i feel there’s a tendency to put “authenticity” and “performance” at odds with one another, but i think that does a disservice. being intentional and practiced is good, actually, improv isn’t inherently more “genuine”
Zohran Mamdani is a trained performer who has an extremely disciplined and laser-focused ability to recite on-message talking points in response to any question, and yet voters overwhelming praise him as being especially "authentic" compared to other politicians. There's a lesson here!

it doesn’t help that every higher ed institution is being aggressively marketed to implement ai products “wisely” so they don’t “fall behind” and university admin are making choices divorced from faculty experience to accommodate that 🙃
I cannot tell you how grim the AI in higher ed situation is. Many of the students have completely surrendered to letting AI do their homework, badly, I might add. How do you fix this? Truly, what the hell do we do, beyond what grading can address, which isn't a solution?
