I think this article is going around again because it was cited by a Malaysian nationalist scholar lol
Lecturer’s 2018 journal article should be retracted, says scholar
Sharifah Munirah Alatas says the article published in Universiti Malaya’s Jurnal Al-Tamaddun cited a piece by satirical website The Onion as factual evidence.

I don’t fully buy this because people’s preferences are shaped by the market. Public transit sucks in the U.S., so of course people are going to relatively prefer car based lifestyles here. This is not an immutable preference of the public.

I regret not dyeing my hair during the pandemic, it would have been a good bit. I think my friends would shun me if I shaved my head.

For a host of structural issues and historical contingencies, it appears that only progressives and socialists are serious about *squints* building out affordable market rate housing to sustain *squints* healthy and liquid housing markets

Putins regime is so weirdly good at macro management that they’d figure it out pretty quick but I’d have to imagine that it would make people realize how quickly things have fallen. More political backlash than economic disaster.

does this look like extremely buttoned down responsible journalism to you? or does it look like something else. and not in service of cutting corners to get a massive scoop
NYT editors put "Claudine Gay" in "top 5 featured on the New York Times homepage Dec 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 22, 25"

(While they put Trump calling for Constitution's "termination" on page 15 and his chief of staff's "tyrant" warning on 12)

Christopher Rufo openly bragged about the plans!
Chris Rufo "a total product of right-wing affirmative action and you literally would never have heard of him if he was a liberal"

NYT front page coverage all the time!

By powerful, mediocre editors who push "meritocracy" narrative yet hired each other with legacy privilege

I keep seeing urban geographers writing about capitalist “devaluing” property without fully explaining that
