Has anyone yet written a package so I can listen to 4D-STEM? (Maybe @cophus.bsky.social would know?)

Some of the datasets must be delightfully polyphonic
I always find that if you listen to this on headphones, esp. if you have base amplified and also have activate noise cancellation, it sounds so good.

It's not like the short chirps of the binary black hole mergers.

This one is like a long duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuwwwwwooooooop!
This image, by @ligo.org @egovirgo.bsky.social shows the gravitational wave signal.

You can also hear what it sounds like here: youtu.be/aWX-BY-A9CY?...

This event was extra special because EM spectrum telescopes caught the light of the event too! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GW170817

On the one hand, I'm sad to be missing M&M this year and I hope you're all having a blast 💜

On the other, this is the traffic I'm currently dealing with 🥰

In a previous job, the lab-head welcomed us with "you have no time for hobbies now, science is your hobby"

I laughed, at what I thought was obvs a joke

Please, have hobbies and passions beyond work. It doesn't mean you're lazy or profligate, it means you experience more of what it is to be human.
Sorry for the string of videos, but this is amazing and makes me wonder if this is what life could be like if we all just logged off the internet.

Okay, for ten points, where have I put my bike key?

It's somewhere in my house (bike locked in shed, key only comes out if locked), not in usual place (raincoat pocket), bike panniers, with house or work keys, or on the handy corner of the worktop.

I need to find it by 6.30pm!

I can never spell "physics" correctly at the first go.

And yet, "ptychography" is just fine? 🤯
When you were learning how to spell in English (not that we're ever done learning how to spell in English), was there a word that just broke you? Like, why why why is that how you spell or pronounce this word? For me, it was "choir."

😭😭 why do I have to be called out like that?
Time to print out some more scientific papers to take home and not read

I may have spoken too soon, and angered the flight delay gods 😭

Have managed to walk 15k steps around the airport while waiting, aiming to find the longest route without self intersecting (just shy of 1km)
See you soon Venice! Excited for FisMat2025, learning new physics and catching up with some very old friends 🥰🔬🤓

You know when you get really thoughtful, insightful feedback from reviewers? It's so heartening😊

I wish I could chat science over a coffee with the mystery reviewer, who clearly knows interesting things. Please consider signing your reviews if you're in a career-safe place.

It is true. Just tested it myself. Google AI claims that Hungary (Ungarn) starts with H in German (which it isn’t, only true in English ) and that it is sometimes called Holland (which probably refers to the Netherlands). Nice demonstration how AI works … 😉
