The Civics For All Comics Group are the UNDEFEATED COMIC BOOK CHAMPIONS of every NYCC they've been at. They run the best panels, they love making great comics and they give them all away for free! They're the absolute best.
That’s a wrap for NYC’s Civics For All Comics Group at NY Comic Con! Gave away ~17,000 FREE educational comics. Hosted 7 panels on Educator’s Day including one with @georgetakei.bsky.social and held a bunch of signings, and met 1000s of incredible people! Thank you to all!

Educators (and everyone)! A reminder that even though PBS has removed content from PBS Learning Media, NYC has posted the materials connected to our Hidden Voices LGBTQ+ work here: sites.google.com/schools.nyc....
Please use, share, spread the word. Really fantastic videos and supporting resources.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position.

DEI programs have a long history in the U.S. (perhaps were even born here). They are part of creating a "more perfect union" and "establish justice, insure domestic tranquility," if you are against them, maybe you should be instead be questioning if you understand what it means to be an American?

If you are looking for the guardrails on MAGA extremism, it does not reside in government institutions or norms. It will not be found in legacy media newsrooms. Nor will you find any courage in the boardrooms of large corporations as they bow and scrape before Trump.
Courts Are the Last Guardrail
From Marc | If democracy is to survive the next four years, the courts will need to perform each of these functions.

Fact-checking suddenly looks quaint, inadequate and practically irrelevant.

Whole realities — the supposed culprits for the LA inferno, a new MAGA map of the world, a child sex-abuse scandal in Britain — now sweep the internet overnight.

We no longer need fact-checkers. We need reality-checkers.
Behind the Curtain: Reality is now up for grabs

Would be great if a group of historians developed several of these courses then a shared definition of disciplinary literacy in history (and its component second order concepts/skills). And after worked w/ history education researchers & K-12 teachers to identify learning progressions across K-16.
I said it was necessary for professional historians to define our disciplinary literacy and how to teach it.

A pedagogy course in graduate programs could do wonders for that goal.
