After ICE did this in Illinois, the Secretary of State revoked the plates, sent a cease and desist to ICE, threatened to suspend rental car licenses for allowing ICE to swap plates and set up a tip hotline to report plate tampering.

MN deserves the same action.

the thing everyone is going to have to accept is that the post-trump period, whenever it comes, will not and cannot be a project of national unity, it must be a project of partisan project of renewal, in the same way that reconstruction and the new deal were partisan projects of renewal.

Twin Cities folks, and I guess especially Gen-Xers, subscribe to @racketmn.com.
my most Gen X coded belief is that cities and the culture at large suffer profoundly for the near-complete death of alt-weeklies
I still think the best idea for progressive donors is to just revive every alt-weekly in the country and staff them with 10 reporters each.

Great read on the best program in the state.
A doctor, a school kicked out of Division III, a $175 million arena and no chance to use the NCAA Tournament bid they might earn.

As an offshoot of this thread, let’s talk about what happens if federal, state, or local officials text, email, call, or show up at your door wanting to talk to you about what you said about the President.

I have a theme, a thesis, a throughline, a leitmotif, which is SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH.

This is a First Amendment question combined with a practical question. The answer is as follows.

First, the First Amendment protects advocating the moral and practical necessity of breaking the law in the abstract.

Being a lawyer and all, do you know what the tipping point is for it to become acceptable to openly advocate for political assassinations? Just a little curious, is all.

in honour of diana taurasi announcing her retirement, here’s something i wrote about that eventuality in the fall — taurasi as power and pantheon
Peace from power
Diana Taurasi hasn’t retired yet, but for 20 years she’s made space for herself as a menace. A pantheon.
