Two hard truths from the #UKBudget:

📉 For you, a stealth tax hike: freezing income tax thresholds will drag more earnings into tax, as wages rise with inflation.

📈 For Big Tech, a likely win: swapping UK’s specific Digital Tax for the delayed global deal means big tech giants will be paying less.

Rachel Reeves says this Labour Governments decisions are "necessary."

Why is it always necessary to hit the living standards of the 99%?

When are we going to make the necessary decisions about extreme wealth?

@zackpolanski.bsky.social on taxing the rich: "This is about inequality. For decades now poor people have got poorer and rich people have got richer... the money [raised] is important but the real point is about tackling inequality.. we need to get those assets flowing around the economy"

The party of Attlee and Bevan is gone. Sadly, so very true.

I am an immigrant and grateful to this country. My suggestion is to join people who care.

Labour has not just lost me as someone who voted for them last year - they’ve pushed me into active opposition with this constant and relentless attack on migrants.

The party of Attlee and Bevan is gone - all we now have left is the party of bending the knee to the likes of Farage and Co.
Why I can't Back Labour Anymore
I've given them fifteen months. They've used these to sidle up closer and closer to Reform. I am done.

Private equity own Morrisons in the UK,they've infiltrated our country too. I am sick of their asset stripping our country. But yet again our politicians enabled this.

Reminder: in 1974 the higher marginal tax rate in UK was 83%. Now it's 45%. Just saying.

Stop the scapegoating. Tax the rich appropriately. In 1944, the highest marginal tax was >90% both in UK and in US, up to 1963. in the UK (earned and investment income combined). In 1974 was 83%. Then the rich took over...

This is exactly how I feel. Thanks to @zackpolanski.bsky.social to be my voice out there.
A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

This is absolutely horrible and cannot be condoned. Confiscating valuables from people fleeing war is beyond belief, even considering the option is shameful. The current leadership should just quit in shame, go away and be replaced with somebody compassionate and who cares. I did not vote for this.
Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

These guys are one of the only voices in the UK economics/tax space campaigning for higher taxes on wealth.

They're asking for donations to keep doing this work.
We’re closer than ever to winning major tax reforms that could transform the economy for the many.

That’s why the greedy, powerful few are spreading hate and division... they want us distracted.

We’re in the fight of our lives. Chip in today so we can win it together 🤝

Please take a bit of time to read this.
I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

Yes, and this happens because all resources and assets are being eaten by the super rich. Even governments need to sell their assets to stay afloat, and the 1% is eating those as well!

Most people talking about rejoining ignore that we cannot as Freeports are not allowed in EU (one of the reasons some people wanted Brexit)…so the UK public gets ripped off internally and externally.
I really feel we should be talking more about this internal corporate colonisation!
Rejoin Single market. Oh we can't , Starmer and Sunak stitched us up with deregulated Freeports where companies no tax. So we are pay billions with no access to single market or protected rights ? A third country outside EU getting poorer and poorer whilst private equity and big corps rip us off.
Govt willing to pay billions for EU reset to undo what Chancellor has called the economic damage done by Brexit bit.ly/48jPLir

As a seasoned professional in my industry I could see this coming from a mile, when interviewing candidates here in UK. No critical thinking, just obsessions with exams results, often composed solely of multiple choice questions. So bad for the student, really appalling education
Our education system isn't working.

Natasha Devon breaks down exactly how we got here in tomorrow's episode of Bold Politics with Zack Polanski.
