In 1938, the Munich Agreement saw Nazi Germany appeased in their annexation of part of a neighbouring sovereign state, Czechoslovakia. The Czechs were not invited to the conference. Months later Germany invaded Poland and WW2 began.

The parallels are vivid and terrifying.
