Seems the Danielle Smith AB govt book ban did have one effect. People have been using it as recommended books list, as these 4 books are commonly bought together.

You know, like two-ish years ago I tried to get people interested in studying the potential dangers of LLMs that give incorrect health advice and no one thought it was fundable. AHEM.
I think I’ll be referencing this case study in my classes this fall: ChatGPT poisoned somebody by telling him to swap in sodium bromide as a substitute for table salt. “For 3 months, he had replaced sodium chloride with sodium bromide obtained from the internet after consultation with ChatGPT”
A Case of Bromism Influenced by Use of Artificial Intelligence | Annals of Internal Medicine: Clinical Cases
Ingestion of bromide can lead to a toxidrome known as bromism. While this condition is less common than it was in the early 20th century, it remains important to describe the associated symptoms and r...

Right [SARCASM]. I will advise my fellow americans to do their own research on vaccines. This do-it-yourself research entails:

Scientific design

Ethical approval

Regulatory oversight

Proper facilities

Qualified personnel

Data monitoring and statistical analysis

Participant safety protections
This public health nightmare continues. “Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. advised parents of newborns to “do your own research” before vaccinating their infants during a televised interview in which he also suggested the measles shot was unsafe and repeatedly made false statements”
Kennedy Advises New Parents to ‘Do Your Own Research’ on Vaccines
In an interview with Dr. Phil, the health secretary offered false information about vaccine oversight and revealed a lack of basic understanding of new drug approvals.

As @angierasmussen.bsky.social told me: “There is never a good time to lay waste to essential public health professionals and scientists specializing in emerging viruses and responses to health emergencies, but this is the worst scenario I can possibly imagine.”

Just in time for the holidays, our lab has just submitted our first lab led paper www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...! We use phylodynamics to reconstruct how H5N1 got to North America and spread so rapidly. Full thread coming post holidays, but for now, super proud of @lambod50.bsky.social
Intensive transmission in wild, migratory birds drove rapid geographic dissemination and repeated spillovers of H5N1 into agriculture in North America
Since late 2021, a panzootic of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus has driven significant morbidity and mortality in wild birds, domestic poultry, and mammals. In North America, infections i...
