Every 4th of July, I take the time to read "What, to the Slave, is the Fourth of July." Let us begin:

"I say it with a sad sense of the disparity between us. I am not included within the pale of this glorious anniversary! Your high independence only reveals the immeasurable distance between us."
(1852) Frederick Douglass, "What, To The Slave, Is The Fourth Of July"

A stern warning.
Something people may not realize: a lot of the paper used to print books in the US are from China. In fact, a lot of the books are PRINTED in China, esp the ones from big publishers.

Expect the price of paper books to really hike soon. If you want paper copies of your favorite books, get them now.

Hey Americans apologizing for your countries' actions.

I get it, but at the same time, this isn't a "oopsie" thing. This will destroy the Canadian economy. The action is to call and write your reps and demand better from your electeds. This is economic war on your closest ally, act like it.

And there is usually a form for this very purpose on the library's website. Probably called something like Request a Purchase. #LibrariesChangeLives
#SupportLibraries
If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.
