K so bring back federal funding for libraries and the IMLS
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Apparently there was a shooting at the Christmas tree lighting in my town that we almost went to. Trying to figure out what happened in the scattered fb posts of friends who were there.

Thanksgiving is in a literal week and lol we have the turkey! But anything else?

Send a thought and prayer to us at the food lion this weekend.

My new doctor immediately approved me to get the Covid booster, so hopefully ya girl will be boosted by the weekend. Already flu’d up.

Being a public librarian can be…real hard sometimes. Idk if y’all are aware of the ~drama~ surrounding Baker and Taylor, but lol I haven’t been able to really order books since August. And even then, only received MAYBE 30% of those items.

On top of programming, desk shifts, tech repair, etc.

Imagine coming after Ms Rachel for misinformation. Imagine.
“New York Times conducts hostile interview with children’s education influencer questioning her recognition of comprehensively documented war crimes” is not a sentence I could have imagined a few years ago

Just wanted to add something to this, since it went more viral than anything else I’ve ever done on social media lol.

Request items, but also CHECK THEM OUT. Keep coming back. We have a lot at the library, but circulation is still our biggest stat figure we need.
Pls pls pls request items!!! We sometimes desperately need that stat figure for state reporting, too.

Also there have been so many request that come through that help me as a selector find titles I wouldn’t have thought about.

REQUEST TITLES, ESPECIALLY QUEER TITLES.
HOT LIBRARY INTEL: you can ask your library to purchase specific titles for their collection, usually right through the library's website.

Librarians can't know every single new title, nor can they mind-read what their patrons might want to check out. Give it a shot!

The book I’m reading has the most insufferable characters and I just learned it was a Wattpad original.

That isn’t to put down Wattpad, but when the FMC is named Athalia and her twin brother is Henry? You know what kind of Wattpad I mean.

The long shot Dem won the only city council seat that wasn’t unopposed in my town, so add that to the list of good news tonight.

A new mayor that once served on the library board of trustees, too.

We keep winning.

One of our country's greatest war criminals just died, the president is arguing with himself about whether or not to let 40 million people starve, and there is an actual courtroom drama about a five dollar footlong.

How are any of us supposed to maintain emotional regulation.

All the photos of my costume have my library logo somewhere in the frame. So here’s a weird angle selfie.

Kids get out of school within the next hour, so here’s hoping we get some at the library!

But I also just rolled my 3rd Yahtzee this game.

Today has been A Lot and it’s only 11am. If you think about going to the library for thing on a Monday morning, don’t.

We’re still going through book drops and courier baskets, starting at 9am.

Still thinking about Good Spirits. There’s a lot of trust in an author to pre-order their book.

I have 4 copies pre-ordered, the earliest of which was bought in May. They’ll all be arriving next week and I simply am buzzing with excitement.

Please read Good Spirits, out October 21.

So I finished this last night and I cried so hard.

“She peers at me over her shoulder. I drowned in the ocean once and I think I could just as easily drown in Harriet. Sink down into her and lose myself for days.”
