Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

This is who ICE murdered. A VA nurse who dedicated his life to helping critically ill veterans.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

In case you missed it: My suggestion that Farage was whispering to Trump behind the scenes while Trump was going after Greenland has been essentially confirmed.

As @jamesdaustin.bsky.social notes: Working against your country's interest with a semi-hostile state - there's a word for that.

I've done My Week: Donald Trump (again) for tomorrow. My first draft genuinely had a joke about Trump thinking there were penguins in Greenland but I took it out because it seemed too stupid.

All the coverage of Andy Burnham is about what it would mean for Labour at Westminster.

Can one outlet at least mention that Burnham is less than halfway into his term as mayor & would be legally obliged to resign that role if he became an MP?

There's a serious case for a party saying "no" to that

When Trump lied and slandered European troops by saying that they avoided the front lines in Afghanistan, it was no mistake. It was a deliberate attempt to run down NATO in American eyes, to try and condition the American people to accept the end of the alliance.

Where are the poppy patriots? Why are they completely silent on this grotesque insult to our armed forces and specifically the 2,000 UK service and civilian personnel who were injured and the 457 who died in Afghanistan?
imagine being the father or mother or son or daughter or sibling of one of those brave British troops who died in Afghanistan, and having to listen to this crass ignorance

‘Expend vast amounts of US political capital and goodwill to acquire something you already had’ yep real 8th dimensional chess here.
In his mission to acquire Greenland, Donald Trump deployed his trademark bargaining strategy: Take the maximalist position — in this case the barely veiled threat of using military force — then dial back

Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Four VCs for UK forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Two of them posthumous. An obvious question for his British admirers.
