USAID is an important component of US foreign policy to preserve peace and address global issues (like preventing the spread of pandemics) through international cooperation.
UPDATE: the plaintiffs challenging Trump's freeze on $1.5bn in USAID spending have filed their response to the administration's emergency plea at SCOTUS. Pending a final reply brief, SCOTUS could issue its first major ruling on Trump's agenda as early as this evening.
