Did a 90s rewatch double feature of Thelma & Louise and Devil in a Blue Dress. Both are spectacular star vehicles. And both have supporting performances from relative unknowns that made audiences ask, “Who in the world is THAT?”

30 years later I clearly remember the impact of his debut album in my community, and my nerdy tween self reading the reviews of Brown Sugar in Rolling Stone.
D’Angelo, the neo-soul trailblazer and modern visionary whose three albums were all heralded as classic works of art, has died at age 51.

To repeat: delete your post and get on with your day.

You don’t have to die on EVERY hill you land on. You really, really, REALLY don’t.

Just delete. And move on.

I swear to you this is great advice. Good luck.

Growing up primed in 90’s cultural snobbery, I can say it did sometimes go to far and was used as an excuse to bully. But it also at times simply encouraged people to uphold artistic and intellectual standards. Is there a way to embrace nuance?

Honestly, a decent watch for us media literacy folks
I wrote a review of The Paper, about a local newspaper in Toledo, Ohio. The show is kind of about journalism, but it's mostly about how we have lost touch with the world that we live in every day, and gotten used to nobody being held accountable for their actions. www.vulture.com/article/the-...
