Picking up SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 in 6th grade taught me, a Cuban-American kid in Miami, that someone else - a Latinx guy named Miguel - could be Spider-Man, too. This hot-wired my brain in ways I still feel. Thank you, Peter David - one of the first writers I followed by name - for everything. RIP.
