I feel like she’s too young to be this out of touch… I was having problems finding teenagers who babysat in 2005, and the going rate to pay was around $10 an hour then. I think it’s like $20 now.

Having worked elections, I can tell you the people who just became citizens will bring their US passports or certificate of citizenship to the polls to register to vote even though I tell them it’s not necessary you just have to have the state issued ID card. They always have realID as well.

Maybe this is what they mean by end stage capitalism. We can talk about radicalization and political extremism, but as a Gen Xer, I thought that Atwood wrote fiction; my idea of left and right is so different from what my parents experienced, and now from what my children experience.

This generation has many different types, of course, but the culture the Gen Z generation is steeped in is a stew of might = right, corporations are bullshit, people don’t matter, obscene billionaire overlords.

If they can’t admit it, they are liars. If they can’t believe it… I still think they’re liars, but they’re lying to themselves as well.
