I also had the Avanti experience yesterday. I left London two hours earlier than planned in the hope I’d avoid some of the madness.

Avanti West Coast staff reminded me of the orchestra on the Titantic today. Rammed train, people standing everywhere including in toilet for 1hr+. Uncomfortable, hot, not a word of apology or acknowledgement when the announcements were made. Brainless customer service.

The #Marple Dads Evening Walking Club was formed 4 years ago in lockdown - our first Xmas do was held at about 200m looking back over Manchester. We've been remiss of late, but last night we got the band back together for a blowy hike up Mount Famine and South Head #peakdistrict.

Not my finest morning. Tried to change flat bike tyre. Put old inner tube back in my mistake, burst new inner by trapping it between rim, put another in (it had a hole), messed the repair up. An hour later I had a functioning tyre. I think I'm tired (tyred???)

The dreaded Train Cancelled notification while I was in the taxi on my way to Stockport station for the London leg of the Orlo Tour with @comms2point0.bsky.social DC. On the next train - 1st class declassified, so I have a comfy seat. No hot drinks on board.. but luckily I made my own. 😄
