For example, King uses an obvious zombie metaphor but then takes us from there to graduation commencement. “Going nowhere slowly.” Really wonderful writing.

I hadn’t read this story in many years. But, man, does it hit different now. Ten years ago my mother died, and now my mother-in-law is in the hospital, and this story written by a young @stephenking.bsky.social hits every emotional note. Really astounding work.

My cat Starling has been battling some kind of lymphatic infection (or genetic mutation) all her life (she’s one!), and today she’s having her leg removed (as you see, it’s getting gruesome). Much like her namesake, Agent Clarice Starling, she’s a survivor, tough and smart. She will endure.

Really enjoyed DEATH BY LIGHTNING. I remember reading DESTINY OF THE REPUBLIC by Candice Millard and I found it riveting. This adaptation is perfect, both a cautionary tale of corrupt politics and an ode to the possibility of the genuine greatness one can only find in his heart, not in headlines.

Really enjoyed DEATH BY LIGHTNING. I remember reading DESTINY OF THE REPUBLIC by Candice Millard and I found it riveting. This adaptation is perfect, both a cautionary tale of corrupt politics and an ode to the possibility of the genuine greatness one can only find in his heart, not in headlines.
The ending where Ed Harris as Sheriff Pangborn speechifies in the street about how Gaunt has manipulated everyone is not King’s ending but it is his theme, and the way the world is now, we could use a Pangborn to help clear things up.
