GOV. WALZ on Trump’s racist attack on Somali Americans: “Unprecedented. We have kids going to school today and the president called them ‘garbage’ — condemn this attack or you are complicit in it… the only thing hurting this state is Trump himself.”

We lost an ocean champion yesterday. Jean Beasley, 90, started North Carolina's first sea turtle hospital and saved over 1,500 turtles.

She was a school teacher with no other training. By the time she died, she had co-authored a half dozen veterinary science papers on sea turtle rehabilitation.

Last night, the sky over Alaska turned into a cosmic vortex…

A massive swirl of purple and pink auroras lit up the frozen landscape — a formation so rare that even long-time skywatchers said they’d never seen anything like it.

Doesn’t this rhetoric sound familiar?

In 1947, the U.S. Army released "Don't Be a Sucker" to show how a nation can be divided, reminding Americans that prejudice isn't natural and is created by those who gain from it.

Trickle-down economics was always a sham.

Nothing has ever trickled down.

The era we are living in offers too many illustrations of greed, narcissism, and hatefulness. But I still believe we can recommit ourselves to serving the common good of all Americans. [Artwork by Jennifer Bloomer]

It was only a failure if you assume they ever had good intentions. If you assume they intended to destroy the federal government from within, they succeeded.

We’ll be dealing with the results of this monumental breach of the federal government for many years to come.
This point needs to be made and frequently.

I was just thinking about contributing to the "charity" Feeding America. Until I discovered that the salary for its CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, was approximately $949,866 in 2024, with her total compensation being $1,113,502. Apparently, feeding America isn't her top priority.

Is there anything more American than skimming obscene amounts of money off of a charity purported to exist to help the disadvantaged? Well, churches have, too!

Franklin Graham gives himself $720,000/year from one of his charities called "Samaritan's Purse," with, clearly, the emphasis on the purse.
