Had a great conversation with a group of students in one of my friend's classes at Georgetown. I had a short lecture about my book planned, but it was all Q&A (my favorite!). We just talked about how the ways we listen to music have changed over time.

The “let’s give ACA money to the people” is such a con because it obviously does nothing to lower the cost of healthcare and health insurance. The problem is private health insurance and the disproportionate power they have over care and peoples’ life chances. This president is such a joke

One of my students’ faces lit up when I mentioned Dr. Octagon in hip hop history, so I burned copies of the 1996 and 2018 albums for them because they’re also into physical media. They were happy to receive them! I told them they are some wild albums haha

What Democrats need to do is neither embrace the ideas of the Bernie / AOC / Mamdani faction nor obsessively freeze Bernie / AOC / Mamdani out.
What they have to do is be tougher on crime and illegal immigration and prioritize broad-based prosperity over emissions reductions and identity politics.

Very true. Mamdani's election win is truly historic, something that the post-World War II Left has hoped for for decades (Detroit's Kenneth Cockrel, Sr. comes to mind as a socialist who had mayoral aspirations). I hope folks study the challenges Kucinich, Harold Washington, and Dinkins experienced
My sense is that Zohran will have to fight twice as hard to achieve about as much as Bill de Blasio did, even if he has more ambitious goals.
I regret to inform you all that, beyond my community-approved 72 hour libbing-out window, I also feel that it may necessary to hold the line for our new socialist mayor in public discourse for a substantially longer period of time

I remember my partner and I saw her fave coffee brand on sale for $7 or 8 and I told her to clean them out—buy as many as you can afford. The price had nearly doubled a month later smh
