Food for thought. Has the cloud made development dummer.

With the ability to scale “infinitely”. We have decided to ship less performant code into production.

a.k.a: more energy consumption, more cpu/mem used and larger datacenters needed by the big cloud providers.

I wonder with yesterdays outage. Will more companies try to pivot to multi-cloud. It’s super expensive but that was the thing to do a couple years back. Now, with outages popping up. It wouldn’t surprise me if that topic reappears.

It’s very interesting to think about how the future of finding true information is going to be near impossible with AI.

If you haven’t bought books about history… now is the time to do it

Is AI going to kill software engineers.

Nahh, it will make the entry to software harder as a job imo. You’ll have to go “back in time” to understand how code was made to make code today.

You could use AI as a jr engineer but if you don’t understand the code… how will u progress?

BREAKING: On a 5-4 order, SCOTUS denies DOJ’s motion to vacate Judge Ali’s State/USAID order, but notes that his prior deadline passed, so Ali is going to have to go back to the drawing board and “clarify” what the gov’t needs to do, “with due regard for the feasibility of any compliance timelines.”

While on my roadtrip across the states I listened to a hunch of the Ml.ops community podcast. Specifically, the agents serious they did.

Definitely recommend to check it out! Went into detail about the landscape with agents in todays world. Where they are spending their time.

After starting Team Topologies, I loved the hot take when discussing the core principal.

You can’t expect to get 5 to 10 years from these tools anymore. Something newer/better will arrive and it will slow you down to not move.

Internal tech thoughts: after working in both AWS and GCP for about two years.

AWS has it dialed in. I used to be a GCP fan but honestly when it comes to customization or stretch what the tool was built for, AWS wins every time.

A friend asked me, “how do you use AI?”

Honestly, searching google. I no longer “google” when I have something to search. I typically ask chatgpt or perplexity.

It saves me time sifting through links from google plus it’s in the form of a conversation💡

To all my compute science grades. I’m sorry, shit is rough… not gonna cap at all. If I was starting over and had pretty much no experience. I would look at cloud engineering.

Just see if you like it!! Don’t start getting certs. Just see if you like it 🙏🏼

A knowledge gap that I find interesting is that most developers except one (principal or sr. principal) on teams understand how to run their code in kubernetes.

Looking back on my decision to either go with Flux CD or Argo CD.

I love the decision to go with Argo. Been a very stable platform and responsive community. No ragrets 🫡
