The world is certainly awful, but I wrote a poem. I didn't want anger, I wanted scope. I'm not sure if there is hope in it, but there is a stoic wisdom (with a hint of rage).

I am humbled and flabbergasted that my little self-published book of sad poems is now an award-winning book. Honestly, my brain wants to downplay it, though my heart wants deeply to be celebrated. Either way, it’s happening.

I am humbled and thrilled with Literary Titan’s review of my collection of poetry.

“Through deeply personal narratives, Hatchel explores identity, trauma, queerness, grief, and resilience with a voice that is equal parts tender and ferocious.”

Sadness & Sadness Accessories
Aurora Hatchel’s Sadness & Sadness Accessories is raw, vulnerable, and unapologetically human. Through deeply personal narratives, Hatchel explores identity, trauma, queerness, grief, and resil…

Hey NYTimes — *now* you’re lighting the beacons? NOW?!? After months of “Sauron: Avatar Of Evil… Or Extreme Uniter?” thumbsucker reporting you’re screaming what we’ve known since 2015? Fuck all the way off.

If you're an English, Philosophy, or Queer Studies professor in Canada, Ireland, Aotearoa, or Australia and you're looking for an overqualified grad student who would make a fantastic TA, now would be a great time to HMU about your program 🙏

Do any other writers feel compelled to apologize whenever they present their writing to potential readers? I have no idea what that is in me or what I’m battling, but while I’m infinitely proud of my work, I can’t fathom other people liking it as well.

There was a day during the pandemic when the fear of it all hit too hard. I feared death in a really tangible way for the first time in my life, and the sharp pain of never getting to live as a woman cracked my egg. I didn’t want to die without trying to make my real life a reality.
TRANS WOMEN OF BLUESKY:

What was your egg cracking moment?

When did you know you were trans? What made you realize?

And did you know you were a woman right away, or did you pass through other identities first

For absolutely no reason at all; Costa Rica has a digital nomad visa (2 years!) and those on the visa can access HRT in the country affordably. Costa Rica currently has the best laws in North America for trans rights, marriage equality, and adoption rights.

I guess I just don’t have the personality type that makes strangers want to get to know me or friends interested to spend time with me. What an absolutely shit time to feel so devastatingly lonely.

Every time you don't buy a book from Amazon, but use a good indie store who actually values the sale & treats you & your purchase with respect, the sun shines brighter, floofy puppies gambol in fresher grass, & Jeff Bezos's piles sting for just a biiiit longer.

Sounds GREAT to me.

Buy independent.

You know how people tell you to drink hot tea when it’s sweltering outside so you sweat through it? That was my theory with stress/dread as I sat down to watch Emilia Perez. And let me tell you, sweaty tea drinkers, it does not work.

My toddler just told me with much passion and anger that her dance instructor called me a dad when she said to them, “go to your mom and dad” because she meant me but I am not a dad. This is deeply upsetting to my child because I’m not a dad and no one should call me a dad.
