Thatcher's government did this with Section 28, banned the "promotion of homosexuality" as a danger to children, while actively protecting Jimmy Savile and who knows how many other pedophiles. It's the same damn playbook.
I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

you totally should be organizing. be informed. have as much of a plan as you feel you need to.
but at this point, i kinda feel like “they’re rounding us up with AI & sending us to wellness farms next week” posting is an act of cruelty to trans siblings.

it’s really damn bleak right now & it’s hard to feel good about anything but some trans folks out there are 100% determined to make sure every trans person is exactly as panicked as they are in a way that’s not additive or informative & i’m not sure that’s helpful or what solidarity looks like.

we've seen it often enough that transphobia *melts* your brain
something about it - the way it specifically requires you to adopt conspiracy and dehumanize other people for it to make any sense at all - is roughly on par with being kicked in the head by an evil horse

I do wish people would treat transphobia as the serious red flag it is, because if someone is repeating bullshit pseudoscience talking points from right wing cranks, that's just as bad as conceding to anti-vax nonsense and undermining trust in science and medicine, alarm bells should be sounding!
