NEW: The rate of sepsis in Houston surged 63% after Texas banned abortion.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where hospital leaders empowered doctors to intervene before patients’ conditions worsened, it rose just 29%.

Something profound happened today — a piece of legislation (HB268) introduced today by Rep. LaFleur in the Criminal Justice committee was amended and named after me.

Let me tell y’all something that makes me sick — every single time someone talks about a minor being pregnant, I have yet to see someone acknowledge that a child can’t consent to sex. Why is no one talking about her being raped?!

Grateful to @deecherrywriter.bsky.social for interviewing me for this story.
"During the hearing to add [exceptions], some people gave emotional testimonies about considering suicide... People from the crowd would yell each time, 'Better dead than a murderer.' According to Hayworth, Right to Life employees sat there smirking."

I love when I request needed public info, like communications between a state Senator and an anti-abortion lobbyist, and I'm only allowed to see 24 of 109 documents.

What are they talking about that I can't see?👀 Are they writing more of our anti-abortion policies? (see third pic; my reporting)

I think it's important to never lose sight of the fact that there is nothing organic about the anti-trans legislation.

It's all a part of a large pys-op by Christian Nationalist groups.

There was actually backlash to early anti-trans bills🧵

Yesterday, payroll. Today, communication.

This is pretty much textbook how you do a coup.
The NTSB says it will no longer email news outlets or reporters with notifications of upcoming press conferences, including those on plane crashes in Washington and Philadelphia.

Instead, all notifications will be made on X.

We're filing a FOIA to find out more about the change in policy.

I don’t have any more words than I did this morning when I woke up to the gutting news but I will say this to the people in Baton Rouge/Nola — why are you popping fireworks right now? You were raised better than that. Have some respect.

In case you've been told and believe otherwise:

A miscarriage IS an abortion.

Medical textbooks, medical records, and medical billing all list a miscarriage as a “spontaneous abortion."

I can’t believe I have to type this, but being intoxicated doesn’t excuse raping someone.

Meanwhile if a survivor was intoxicated, she’d be blamed for putting herself in that position.
