the only reason the government has to not like transgenders other than "they're weird" is they don't like equal treatment of both sexes, as it would imply that if you can change your sex you should be on the same playing field as you were before. trans rights are human rights folks

This is why I still think that the internet, not the issues, are the root cause of this culture war. People (including journalists…who are people) imagine the loudest, angriest positions as default positions because those are the ones that get eyeballs in an ultra-competitive attention economy.
