Lolololol, yes, Knight Insurance—the parent company of the company purporting to issue Trump's bond—says that, as of December 31, 2023, it had a "Note Receivable $183,500,000" as an asset.

Just a wee bit fishy.
the bigger company suddenly grew a "note receivable" on its balance sheet that just happens to be a round number adding up to what trump owes plus a vig of a few mil.

If you can’t break 60% with the party behind you, the right wing media machine fellating you, and a terroristic band of fanatics threatening everyone, and you’re also facing ruinous judgments and a panoply of felony charges, maybe it’s time to drop your campaign and focus on your personal problems.

A few years back I coded an algorithm to compute daily surface melt in Antarctica from microwave sat. data. The NSIDC adopted the code but it isn't live yet.

Until then, I created my own "Antarctica Today" app that'll auto-post replies to this thread.

Daily surface melt extent w/ a 1-day lag.

Today the Alabama Supreme Court made IVF essentially illegal by declaring un-implanted embryos “human children.”

What happens in a red state never stays in a red state (see: the Dobbs decision that started in MS) - we can’t ignore these places.

It's really remarkable how often soft pro-life folks scoffed at hypothetical results such as this as being *scare tacticts.*

Just me, personally, but if I was this wrong about what a movement would do with power, I'd reevaluate my affiliation with them.
You may have seen that the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are unborn children and a valid wrongful death action can be based on their destruction—apparently making IVF impracticable in Alabama. publicportal-api.alappeals.gov/courts/68f02...

Much of Southern California is under a flood watch as another multiday winter storm heads toward our already rain-soaked region starting today, bringing what the National Weather Service is calling "a significant risk of flooding, as well as mudslides and landslides."

I do find myself wondering if the RNC goons who have spent the past year saying that the RNC wouldn't foot trump's legal bills actually believed that they'd be able to stop that happening in the end
Ronna McDaniel was a Trump stooge, but she had cut Trump off from using the RNC as a slush fund to pay his legal bills. I think that's the likely main reason Trump mounted this takeover: To drain RNC coffers.

"Trump is out of money": Republicans fear Trump will drain RNC funds to pay his own legal bills
Lara Trump vowed that "every penny" at the RNC would go toward helping Trump. Some Republicans are worried.

I think it might also be good to reflect on how bribery works. You don't by and large get a suitcase of cash with an explicit request to do something (or not do it). You get taken out to dinner. You get gifts. You get friendly conversations about "concerns" that of course you want to keep in mind.
