I was recently invited to present my thoughts on the role of universities in the #climate crisis
Several audience members asked that I share my slides, so I've decided to post them here too as an open resource
I'd love any feedback, & for you to share examples of projects & best practice.

Non-use agreement similar to the present-dat nuclear test-ban treaty, together with new Europe/Asia led dual-use satellite-based monitoring (non-use and also for aviation warning systems on volcanic ash) could be a practical way forward for the next decade, in my view. Finding out how to get there.

Explainer: Will global warming ‘stop’ as soon as net-zero emissions are reached? - Carbon Brief
Warming is likely to more or less stop once net-zero emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) is reached, meaning humans have the power to choose their climate future.

The Dutch offshore wind programme is in trouble. While 4.5 GW is in operation and another 1.5 GW under construction, the plan was to rapidly build out capacity to 21 GW by 2032. That is now out of reach.
