In this piece @carbonbrief.org still reports the warming by methane based on its increase in abundance (~25% of warming, and not the more correct much larger share in the emission-based methane forcing. Source: IPCC AR6. Do not forget #troposphericozone and other chemistry

Global, Chinese and other CO2 emission trends compared to US
September 13, 2025 at 2:50 PM
The relative contribution of US CO2 emissions to global CO2 emissions is not the same anymore as 70-80 years ago, so the world’s rapid climate action and renewable transformation is now more relevant than stalling US climate policies

Interesting results in the CAMS Air Quality assessment report 2024 on the source apportionment for the traditional dirty fossil ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. The largest sectoral contribution during the 2 studied episodes stems
from…. agriculture(!)

14 July 1975. Groningen area. Reconstruction of the path of a whirlwind / light tornado. Maybe the strength of a whirlwind or tornado could be estimated from historical damage reports. Many trees seemed still standing up in this case.

This week the highest UV index in N-W Europe because of high solar elevation, lots of sunshine, and a high pressure system that brings a thinner ozone layer (higher tropopause level) to the region. In a worldperspective the European highest UV indices are not extreme of course

Ever tried to plot our best estimate global methane emissions (AR6 IPCC; SSP3-7.0) against the observed global mean methane concentration? In the figure the interesting result since 1850 (sorry, captions are in dutch). It was a bumpy ride lately, but not anymore it seems. Guess what happened.
