I quit the former Twitter two years ago this week, and I am here to tell you that my online life got a lot better for having left it. In two years I've not been tempted to go back, and I haven't felt any penalty in either career or community for not being there. It's nice to be here and not there.

I don’t care if you’re a relative, a fantasy novelist, or an elected official, transphobia is manufactured outrage and transphobe are trash.

None of America’s problems are cause by trans people. None.

But a LOT are caused by bigots.

When the 4 Non Blondes said “And so I wake in the morning and I step outside, and I take a deep breath and I get real high
and I scream from the top of my lungs WHAT’S GOIN ON?!”

I really felt that.

Since it's worth repeating, I am emphatically an ally to trans people.

Trans friends, you deserve safety. You deserve love. You deserve respect. You deserve support. You deserve peace. You deserve pride. You deserve comfort. You deserve representation. You deserve dignity.

Got lost in the comments of a Tiktok on things people learned from TikTok videos that changed their lives. Sometimes it's a life hack, sometimes it's a whole new life trajectory. I wish more people understood how much good came from that weirdly intuitive algorithm.

Dearest Listeners,

If you have not listened to Jorge Rivera-Herrans' EPIC: The Musical, an adaptation of The Odyssey, go do it. The final saga drops on Christmas. It cannot be overstated how fantastic it is; even if you're not "a musical person."

Go, get in the water.

Just finished listening to the audiobook for Play Nice and while it was definitely an interesting and nostalgic look at the sheer force of nature of Blizzard, I kept wishing for an optimistic update about the future of the company that never came. 💙📚

I'm overthinking what kind of experience I want on this app so the new goal is to just find the fun again!
Some things I love...

💙📚 - Reading and writing will never not be the top of my loves list
🧶 - Crafting, crochet, just... Making stuff
🎮 - Video games, from small and cozy up to Overwatch

Really liking it here so far! My timeline is pretty political right now as I try to find new people to follow, but whenever I'm looking for a little extra joy I can just bop on over to the bird or crafting feed and I'm all set! 💙🦚🧶

Figuring out this new social media landscape seems to be, in part, just accepting FOMO.

I know that as part of the X-odus, a lot of people I love are landing on Threads instead of here, but this is feeling like the place to be.
