I love this fun fact! I hope to one day contribute to my pts in by educating them on nutritional facts that can link to their overall health and mental well-being! 🧄 I know for me, eating foods that taste yummy consume me more than healthy nutritional ones for my gut...😅 #beh353
Garlic: tiny clove, big benefits. 🧄 It contains allicin, linked to heart and immune health. Plus, it’s antimicrobial, antioxidant-rich, and delicious. Add it raw for more potency, or roasted for a mellow, sweet flavor boost. #RealWorldNutrition

This type of foods should be offered and promoted more often in schools so that children can get an idea of how to be healthier for the future! It's very unfortunate that other foods (often cheaper and unhealthier) are advertised to children...😔 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This hit too close to home! I agree w Dr Emma Beckett that there's too much default judgement and way less understanding when it comes to being healthy and our food choices. Judgement definitely doesn't help someone eat better...😬Let's be mindful! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
We talk about what to eat, but less about how we think about it. The stress, judgement & fear around food choices aren’t just exhausting—they make eating decisions harder. We don't think as clearly. We default to habits & jump to conclusions... That’s probably not helping anyone eat better.

Obesity is a more complex topic than just being overweight. Tom Carroll's journey has given me a more compassionate viewpoint on those w this health struggle. Remember to approach this topic with empathy + no judgement🤗 --> Be understanding and DO NOT shame!😄 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Educating children and adolescents about nutrition could go a long way. We could replace unhealthy eating habits with more nutrient dense foods. Understandably, economic challenges could play a role in food choices... let's raise awareness and change this😔 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Leptin=hormone that regulates appetite and energy levels🤗 Fat shaming = bad method to solve obesity!👎 Understand that science is important (ex: defects in the leptin gene)...Imagine if your brain couldn't signal your body to stop eating! Do research before judging😆 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This should definitely be incorporated into our school system. It's vital that we give healthier food options to children/young adults, since it builds a good foundation for the future!🫣😇🥰
The Biden admin expanded the spending to build a more resilient food supply chain that didn’t rely on major food companies.
The move comes as school nutrition officials are increasingly anxious about affording healthy food with the current federal reimbursement rate.

"Lack of time to plan, shop, prepare and cook healthy foods." With college classes and getting home late almost daily, I had minimal time to prepare and cook healthy foods. This year, I try to incorporate protein and different nutrients in all my meals! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I've always wondered what would happen with an all coconut diet since it has juice and shavings😭 Now I know that the body needs more than just one type of food. Nutrients = necessary. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Keto diet = low carbs, high fat. Isn't high fat associated with high cholesterol and heart disease? I suppose unsaturated fats is better than saturated fats...but your body still needs carbs and other nutrients! Oh, and stay hydrated if you're on a keto diet😀 #dietfads #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

My diet consists of high protein and minimal sugars! I consume chicken and eggs every night, but I could definitely incorporate veggies. My taste buds despise greens...but I know it's rich in nutrients😪 Replacing white bread with whole grain is my next goal!🫣 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

24 hr recall = cottage cheese, boiled eggs, pb&j, coffee, water, chicken and rice + truffle hot sauce, greek yogurt with honey + banana + chocolate chips! I eat this almost daily, so very easy to remember! I think that more coffee = less water in my diet...not good😬 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Macronutrients = carbs, proteins, and fats. Cutting carbs may help weight loss, but remember that it's essential for brain and muscles! Also, did you know that sugar from fruit contains healthy nutrients, and that honey isn't any "healthier" than table sugar?😱#surprised #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Health = balance. Sugar and sodium can be good for you in moderation! FDA has updated their "healthy" claim definition!! I love this.
Great piece -- and a further concern is that those @fda.gov infographics, with fresh salmon, trail mix and olive oil, just play into the healthy=expensive illusion.

Here's a version with cheaper items, also healthy but more affordable and less associated with fancy brands & food culture:
