Going to be wild to have Clarence Thomas and other members of the court write that even the appearance of impropriety is sufficient to allow the President to remove Federal Reserve members from office, and then head off to Harlan Crow’s yacht

Oh great! Just when I got used to the prospect of Lyme Disease.
Not only is climate change causing ticks to expand their territory, it's also causing an explosion in alpha-gal syndrome, which makes people allergic to eating red meat or using products that come from those animals. A dozen cases in '09 to over 450,000 now. 🧪

The statute Trump used to unlawfully federalize the National Guard last night was 10 U.S.C. § 12406, requires that the President act through the governors of the states to federalize the National Guard. Trump’s invocation of 10 U.S.C. § 12406 was unlawful.

Houston Chronicle reports:

“During a Monday briefing with staff, FEMA Administrator David Richardson reportedly said he hadn't been aware the U.S. has a hurricane season.”

Well, that sure inspires confidence.

Threatening to punish judges who check your power is proof that judges need to be in place to check your power.

We’ve been watching Wolf Hall, a fascinating study of how the fragile male ego of a fickle, greedy despot creates a culture of deep cruelty and mistrust, where everyone lives in fear of saying the wrong thing. Thank goodness we’ve moved on from those times.

So glad I live in NM now and not TX
In a mostly bleak election for American women and their rights, New Mexico was an unexpected bright spot.

Even as Harris lost her bid for the White House, NM voters elected 60 women to fill the legislature’s 112 seats, giving New Mexico the largest female legislative majority in US history.

Like, we have this magic rock that we carved 45,000,000,000 miniature switches on it to create images of worlds that do not exist on a screen.

We really, really not appreciate enough how insanely magical technology is.

Well, now we know who is going to oversee the unwinding of the Department of Education. My father worked for HEW in the 1960s helping set up work-study education programs in high schools. He'd be mortified.
