Quite enough baseless blather comes
from the man who is never silent;
a quick tongue, unless it’s held in check,
often talks itself into trouble.

she/her
Today I walked among the trees and said hello. I touched each one and called them friend, thanked them for all they do, and felt so much energy that I cried.

Trees are sacred pieces of Yggdrasill, the World Tree. They protect us and nourish us and connect us.

They deserve our respect and love

Creating a society that shuts trans people out of the job market, then using the idea that not enough trans people are “working class” in order to NOT support trans ppl…is a stunning lack of intellectual rigor.

It shouldn’t be that hard to think your way out of a plastic bag 🫠

I saw a post the other day describing AC Valhalla as "settler colonialism simulator" and I think that's a very silly way to think about that game, Vikings, and the Scandinavians of the Viking Age

A thread: Why Settler Colonialism is the Wrong Way to Think About the Viking Age

A 100-foot-long ship burial uncovered in Myklebust, Norway, surrounded by a ring-shaped moat, is one of several Viking graves illuminating elaborate ceremonies that Vikings staged to send their rulers into the afterlife.

Norse myth is about reusable food: Thor has two goats who can be killed but who rejuvenate each night if their bones are not broken, while Valhalla features Sæhrímnir, killed for meat each day but rejuvenated each night. #FolkyFriday

Very few finds found at Norse site of L’Anse aux Meadows in Canada due to site being deliberately abandoned early in 11thC. These two, however, a spindle whorl & a broken knitting needle mean it was very likely that Norse women were present in the settlement #lanseauxmeadows #norse #viking #vikings

Ravens are Odin's creatures. They are wise and holy, passing wisdom down through generations, and have great memory. Descended from the great ravens Huginn and Muninn, Thought and Memory, who flew across the Nine Realms everyday and brought news to Odin

While the Greek gods eat ambrosia and drink nectar, the Norse gods prefer a heartier meal. Every night the giant boar Sæhrímnir is slaughtered for food, and every morning he is reborn. Also, mead instead of milk pours from the udders of the great goat Heiðrún.

Tomorrow is Freyja's Day. Hopefully I see the hawk on my walk tomorrow and she isn't too mad that I haven't been outside much for a few days

🌾 History Fact of the Day: In Norse mythology, Freyr, the god of fertility and harvest, was also the mythical ancestor of the Swedish royal dynasty, the Ynglings.
