Hey y'all! I'm Elijah. I'm a game dev living in Berkeley. I post about politics, technology, game development, software engineering, photography and more.
I'm here as a Twitter refugee, Threads emigree. I'm always trying to engage kindly and in good faith. Here are some random photos I've taken.
Honestly this was a rough year for games in more ways than one, at least for someone with my taste. Hades 2 is great but it's a straight forward sequel, not GOTY material imo.

I rarely find anarchist writing worth reading, but this is an exception. If your gonna be an anarchist please strive to be at least as thoughtful as this:

If Trump fellated Bill Clinton and Bill Clinton kept it secret through *THREE* Trump presidential campaigns Clinton is complicit in Trump's ascension to power & is no better than Merrick Garland.
It hasn't been confirmed who 'Bubba' is; however, it is the nickname of former President Bill Clinton who had a decades long close relationship to both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump.

Discovering your new house is on a street without tricker treaters... Devastating 😞

Huge kudos to Spotify for including the degeneracy button in their UI:

Building code should not require a specific number of outlets per room. That's an insane thing to regulate at a government level. Let people build and live in whatever style house they want!

I don't understand why anyone cares about the White House modifications. This is such a non-issue.

The president is a criminal pedophile illegally killing fishermen with no trial and no congressional authorization for force.

I think boredom is an underrated driver of human behavior.

The problem with infinite scrolling on our phones is not anything about the infinite scroll itself, it's that this fully removed boredom from our lives.

Identical logic applies and is why I don't like weed.

Utopia, apocalypse, or 2.1% real GDP growth. Thems your options according to the Dallas Federal Reserve folks.

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!

It’s important to flood social media and news channels with news about how ICE lies, so that potential jurors see it.

What is my dude talking about?Watts are a power measurement. This is definitional, there is a consensus on this.
Something I'm coming to realise: everybody talks about megawatts and gigawatts of data centers but there is no real consensus on what that means. Is it power? Is it compute?

Also: nobody can/will/wants to talk about what these things cost to run

I think the "Johnathan Blow style of game development" by which I mean "small, high power team takes a long time to make a smallish tight game" is aesthetically beautiful as a dev approach. Too bad it's financially challenging & doesn't work for most of the games players want.

A close friend of mine has spent the past couple years working with his wife to build this beautiful & unique cozy game! Give them a follow if you like Egypt &/or cozy games!
We wanted to make the sand sparkle in our game. We've also added heat distortion.

Fields of Aaru is a cozy life sim set in the afterlife of Ancient Egypt. It features light survival mechanics like thirst when venturing into the desert.

#ScreenshotSaturday Excited to share the very first post for our cozy life-sim.

It's set in Ancient Egypt, built using Bevy, and we've been working on it for almost 3 years!

Credit where credit is due, science fiction authors of the past 50 years did an excellent job predicting the vibe of 2025.

It would be much easier to take the right wing concern about political violence as good faith if they didn't all seem so excited about it. Political violence is tragic. It's not an exciting opportunity to beat your opponents for good.

Berkeley needs a 🚠 from downtown through campus & up into the hills. Berkeley could build dorms on the now accessable hillside & Downtown Berkeley Bart -> campus or the labs would be sooo much quicker.

America's leaderless revolutionary gorilla movement is stupider and more pointless than anyone could have possibly prepared for. It's literally children angry at their teachers & gamers radicalized by 4chan.

Reminder that the US could provide air support to Ukraine and allow them to win the war in a few months if we were willing to risk a few US casualties.

Wait why don't we use approval voting for primaries. Approval voting is weird for general elections because it doesn't elect the most popular 1st choice person, but it seems perfect for primaries where you're trying to nominate a popular and electable person!
