COP’s coming up in Brazil. Feels like governments in Europe are acting scared of public opinion on climate.
But most people aren’t against action: they just don’t want to be left to deal with everything by themselves.

Why does public money flow so freely to business, with so little return?

From France to Scotland, we need to ask where our billions go, and why we settle for so little.

Can’t stress enough how pleased I am to see this! Boris Vallaud, who's running to lead Labour’s sister party in France, is defending the decommodification of childcare, social care, healthcare, education — the essentials of life. I’ve been writing so many columns about this!
Petite enfance, vieillesse, obsèques, santé, éducation, eau...

Il faut faire sortir ce qui est essentiel des logiques marchandes qui trient et excluent des vies.

La démarchandisation, ça concerne la vie concrète des Françaises et Français.

Le Pen's ban from running for office is neither an attack on democracy nor a boon for the far-right. It is a move by an independent judiciary to uphold the rule of law, protect the public from political corruption, and shore up French liberal democracy.
