📢 Our new paper is out in @methodsinecoevol.bsky.social!

A step toward more comparable approaches in bioacoustics! We tested how different acoustic feature extraction and classification methods affect caller ID classification accuracy.

Code used in research is key to the methods and scientific output and we should ensure it’s not just "available" but easy to verify and build on.

We present a practical tool to code review for scientists 🧪

@mattwilkins.galacticpolymath.com and @galacticpolymath.com are developing an open access web app for visualizing and analyzing sounds: SoundLab

If you're in this space, you know this is sorely needed

Please check this out and RT to spread the word

Humans are visual creatures. We're missing out on so much because it's currently expensive & technical to visualize sounds.

Please help @galacticpolymath.com finish a web app to change this!
👇 $10 gets you access to the beta app. (Public release will be free, if we can reach our goal!) 🧪🔊 #edusky

Bird #bioacoustics folks: @kitzeslab.bsky.social is hosting a hands-on "Advanced topics in bioacoustic monitoring" workshop at AOS 2025!

We'll make custom sound ID models, estimate birds' positions using acoustic localization, and discuss how to use sound ID results to make ecological insights.

Very proud to be a Canadian today. This could well be remembered as Justin Trudeau's finest hour. He was taking exactly zero bullshit and we all know that is the one and only way to deal with a bully. He is a truly excellent crisis prime minister.

Poilievre's stock is tanking for obvious reasons.

I love this flag and I love my country 🇨🇦
On this day in 1965, the new Maple Leaf Flag was raised at Parliament Hill for the first time.
But getting to that point was very difficult. It was a divisive debate to create the flag, that went on for months.
Let's learn more about how Canada got its flag!
