In a just country, a place like ADX wouldn't even exist. But to send people there whose death sentences the previous guy commuted, seemingly mostly out of spite, is next-level despicable, in an administration that does "despicable" multiple times a day. (Also, support @boltsmag.org)
NEW: President Biden commuted the death sentences of most people on the federal death row before exiting office.

President Trump is now effectively looking to retaliate, and to detain those people in the most brutal conditions in the federal system. Bolts reports:

If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

If either of my Senators cave, they will NEVER see another nickel from me and I will make monthly donations to whoever primaries their feckless asses.

📢 Do you hear me @bluntrochester.senate.gov and @coons.senate.gov ???

Just called and left messages for both my senators telling them #dontcave

This is how Senate Dems decide to proceed after the No Kings protests, this week's election successes, and Trump acting like a ghoul w/ SNAP benefits?

This is what they think the people want? Caving for nothing?

Pathetic.

Gave out little fiber optic wands for Trick-or-Treat. They were a HUGE hit and had the bonus of making the kiddos easier to see in the dark as they walked across streets.

i'm sure the "faculty forum" on "reducing burnout" and "enhancing resilience" will include helpful things like "join your faculty union" and "here's a bucket of money" and "we hired a bunch of new full time faculty to reduce the teaching load across the university"

Please, #BluSky folk:
1. Don't say #criminology when you mean criminality - concept clarity is important!
2. As others have noted this week - #TrueCrime is not criminology
3. Profiling is not a legitimate job role in the UK/British #policing - stop misleading potential criminology students!

I won't die on this hill - but does really irritate me when 'true crime' podcasts such as this pretend they're engaging with 'criminology' - when mostly, they simply are not. Gives criminology a bad name IMHO.

I fear that schools being willing to drop diversity programs without a fight shows how flimsy their commitment to inclusion was in the first place. People fight for things they truly believe in.
