A new acquaintance recently asked me if I have any hobbies. I could only answer “(long pause) Ah… I have kids”.

NHS scientist, player of Warhammer and videogames, long time fan of big stompy robots.
That Vince Cable presided over this sh*tshow is heartbreaking. weownit.org.uk/act-now/end-...
End the Royal Mail privatisation experiment now
Ofcom is consulting on stamp prices. It is time to demand that they end Royal Mail privatisation.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?

He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.

So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

The BBC must balance their political news so it doesn’t boost Nigel Farage’s dangerous, divisive politics.

I am re-reading Quest magazine, which I adored when it was published about 35 years ago. Are rocket propelled ski boards a thing yet? I want one, and frankly I’ve waited long enough.

Ugh Brexit

What an endlessly tedious and costly drain on our resources, our prosperity and our patience

It's been nearly two months since our government petition calling for an end to the badger cull reached 100k signatures. This means it should be considered for a debate.

Guess what....we've heard NOTHING.

Share if you think the government should end the cull for good!

I’m watching the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movie with the kids. Gods the soundtrack is good. It’s 90s banger after banger. Seriously.

Private faith schools are still crying foul over the UK govt's plan to end their tax breaks. The religious status of a school shouldn't warrant special treatment. All schools, regardless of ethos, should be subject to the same rules.
Legal challenges to VAT on private schools fees to be heard at High Court
Nearly 20 families and several faith schools are bringing legal action against the Treasury, claiming the new VAT on fees is discriminatory and a breach of human rights law

When something is a success, people like to associate themselves with it. So it's noticeable how quiet the Brexiters are.

Brexit cheerleaders have gone awfully quiet – so let me remind you what they did to Britain
If we do talk about it, we start to recognise the gulf between their words and reality

My reflection on Jimmy Carter is that quietly living by example turns out, very sadly, to be rather less effective than one may hope. But still better to do it than not.

Big fact-check on lots of the immigration lies being amplified today by the usual grifters. Please boost.
Tim Stanley, in what now appears to be a weekly slot on one or other BBC flagship politics programme, reels off a huge amount of absolute, provable nonsense about immigration.

And he does so completely unchallenged. Enough now. ~AA

This month was a big one for Oxford’s Familial Hypercholesterolaemia group as after 3 years of operation we have reached the milestone of 10,000 patients reported!

Based on statistics from the British Heart Foundation, our group’s work has prevented 260 heart attacks and saved 31 lives. 🙌
