This statement from people living in asylum hotels in Greater Manchester is a compassionate response to the rise in violent protests written by people who are living it every day. I hope it leads to more nuanced conversations and understanding. Thankyou to everyone involved in putting it together.
Recently, we have seen an increase in protests and demonstrations outside asylum hotels, driven by misinformation and fear.

Greater Manchester Asylum Hotels Group have written a statement to respond directly to the concerns and questions they’ve heard from local communities.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible @cityofsanctuaryuk.bsky.social movement.
While a hateful minority spend their time whipping up division, this network of thousands dedicate themselves to welcome and kindness.
These are the people who represent the UK that we're proud to be part of.

The last Government created an asylum backlog and forced people to live in appalling conditions for years on end.
It chose cruelty over taxpayers' money - then scapegoated sanctuary seekers for its failures.
