A newly-published study I’ve just come across via a tweet by one of the authors:

Plasma Glutathione Concentrations Are Associated with Leukocyte and Neutrophils' Counts in Clozapine-Treated Patients - PubMed
Clozapine's potential hematological toxicity, particularly its effect on white blood cell counts, is well documented and routinely monitored in clinical practice. In this study, a significant associat...

AGO1 in neural progenitor cells orchestrates brain development and sociability via LIN28A-REELIN axis
AGO1, an essential RNA binding protein (RBP) in RNA interference, is associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, the precise functions of AGO1 in brain development and related disorders r...

Very happy to share our new paper in Biological Psychiatry, showing that Urolithin A reverses high anxiety by repairing mitochondrial function in the nucleus accumbens.

Big kudos to first co-authors David Mallet & Doğukan Ülgen, our amazing team, and collaborators!

I'm sitting in a stupor and doing nothing. Had psychiatry existed, I would have run to the psychiatrist right away, because in November, a 6th year will start in a dysfunctional state, with no relationships, no proper work. Affect and ruminations.

During work, I see people holding hands, walking with their kids, and even hugging - and I feel like a steel hook is thrust into my abdomen and is being turned there. I feel like I'm in hell, and this feeling lingers, and ruminations start, and they don't stop.

The public wants answers on WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF #AUTISM. This lecture takes a deep dive on genes, environment and #vaccines and how it works. Video quality is poor in the beginning, but don't skip the first 5 slides or the segment at 20:00-25:00 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jiy9...

As we have learned, genes have dose-dependent effects on psychiatric traits. DOSAGE, it turns out, is a key element that helps unravel mechanisms of gene → pathway → cell type → brain region → diagnosis. Here we developed a framework to characterize cellular processes that mediate genetic effects.
Psychiatric disorders converge on common pathways but diverge in cellular context, spatial distribution, and directionality of genetic effects https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.07.11.25331381v1

The field of neuroscience views the goal of human genetics as "finding genes". This is an outdated view. In whole genome studies of rare variants, finding genes is the easy part. The more interesting and important goal is to map out the causal pathway from genes to brain function to cognitive traits
A cross-disorder analysis of CNVs finds novel loci and dose-dependent relationships of genes to psychiatric traits https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.07.11.25331310v1

(buried in a reply, but) This is mind-blowing & deserves a post. Scroll to "video" in this article to watch what happens when the human hypothalamus is stimulated: it's a combo of embarrassment/shame and intense body sensations emanating from the heart. WOW.

I feel myself dead because I see people in the streets who are holding hands and even kissing. If I were alive, I would have lived with a woman at least for some time over the last 47 years. I cannot go to a psychiatrist because I'm in Russia, we don't have them.
