Too many books? I think what you mean is not enough bookshelves.

Let go of the starving artist mindset and all the beliefs and limits that come with it.

Only then can you begin to explore a world of creative abundance. Only then can you find it.

Where you are an artist that is thriving, provided for, and free to explore your creativity.

This is Mertarvik, Alaska, population 300. It’s a new town.

Its residents, the vast majority of whom are Yup’ik, began moving in around 2019.

The move was by necessity: The nearby village where many residents previously lived, Newtok, is sinking, its riverbanks eroding. THREAD 🧵

I was sitting quietly in the forest this morning, watching a Royal Flycatcher nest when this wonderful Keel-billed Motmot perched near me for a few minutes. These are one of the toughest motmots. They're quiet, small, and love the dark forest. At @tapirvalley.bsky.social

People should lift each other up and cheer each other on, not try to outdo each other. The sky would be terribly dark with only one star.

I cannot overstate the importance of reading books, particularly novels by respected authors, for critical thinking skills and reading comprehension. If the big gun novelists don't interest you, start small and work your way up. Or read whatever interests you. Just read. Or listen. It's all books.

I’m saying this in my capacity as an author and once and future library worker:

Read whatever the hell you want.

I cannot impress enough on you that the “important” books aren’t important if you don’t jive with them. The popular books, the canon, the whatever. Read what you want.

- remove generative ai functions and support
- offer their suite free to college students until graduation
- celebrate art with more grants and scholarships

we need to be saying again and again and again that even if 100% of these people had a criminal record none of this would be okay. people who are criminalized are humans and deserve human rights. people are systematically criminalized based solely on the color of their skin, poverty, language etc
